You may have a light breakfast and lunch.

NOTE FOR DIABETIC PATIENTS: You will be scheduled with an early morning appointment. Please advise your doctor managing your diabetic care that you are having this test. Your medication may be changed in preparation for this test.

For this study, a catheter will be placed in your rectum to measure the pressures of the sphincter muscle and test the ability of your sensing in this area.

Please take two Fleet Enemas at least 2 to 3 hours prior to your procedure appointment time.

Please arrive at the GI Lab on the 1st floor at Piedmont Hospital approximately 1 hour prior to study so that all the preliminary paperwork can be completed and we can begin the study on time.

If you are late by 30 minutes or greater, your appointment is subject to being rescheduled. Please register with the receptionist.
